Explore The Himalayas
This 12 night tour starts from the northern town of Rishikesh in Uttarakhand state
- Set on the river Ganges in the foothills of the Himalayas and famous for hosting the Beatles at the Maharishi Mahesh Yogi Ashram in the 1960’s, Rishikesh is a great starting point for riding into the Himalayas
- We ride to the Spectacular Gangotri National Park on a thrilling mountain road where you will get a taste of the high Himalayas for the first time. Gangotri is known as a holy pilgrimage site for Hindus as it is the location of the source of the sacred Ganges River. Gangotri is an isolated place less visited by foreign tourists but is well worth the ride.
- We then ride the twisty mountain roads towards Shimla, the summer capital of British India with its Raj-era architecture and improbable setting on the top of a mountain
- After a rest day in Shimla, we set off for the Spiti Valley, a beautiful, desolate place where we ride at altitudes of over 4000 metres with some of the most dramatic backdrops you can imagine.
- Our final destination is the lively town of Manali, but before we reach our destination, we stay overnight at the spectacular Himalayan meltwater lake of Chandra Tal, then ride up to nearly 4000 metres over the Rohtang pass before we reach Manali, where luxurious accommodation awaits the weary rider.
- Includes internal flight back to Delhi from Kullu airport, a short drive from Manali.
